What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new method of supporting Australians with a permanent or significant disability, giving them the opportunity to build skills for everyday tasks or to rejoin the workforce and engage with the community.

Who is eligible for the NDIS?
Those eligible for NDIS include Australian citizens or those who hold a Protected Special Category visa, are under the age of 65 and have a permanent and significant disability which impacts everyday activities and live in Australia where NDIS is available. There is also early intervention eligibility to help those with a disability which is likely to be with them for life but could be improved with extra help.
How do I know if I qualify for the NDIS ?
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) decides who is eligible for the scheme as they provide the NDIS. Please visit the NDIS website for more information on NDIS eligibility. If you’re eligible, you will be referred to as ‘participant’ and can start using the scheme once it is available in their area, having consulted with an NDIS representative about your first plan and the first plan is then approved.
About the NDIS
The NDIS aims to improve the outcomes of those with a disability later in life by investing in the initial stages of their journey to better health. About 460,000 Australians with a disability, under 65 years old are expected to be part of the long-term disability care and support scheme.
Your NDIS journey
You will receive a tailored plan to ensure you receive the support you need and to help you identify and reach your goals, whether they be starting studies, securing a job, joining a social group or simply providing personal care to assist with everyday tasks.
